The Ascot Park Hotel Southern Steel has launched a new membership initiative designed with its Otago fans in mind.

The new Gold Membership, which goes on sale to the public on Monday, January 25, provides a four-game option to soak up all the excitement of Steel home games in both Dunedin and Invercargill during this year's ANZ Championship.

“Steel membership, and all the benefits which go along with it, is a relatively new concept for our Otago supporters so we wanted to design a package specifically for them,” Steel marketing and sponsorship manager Melanie Luke said.

Gold membership includes entry to Steel's two Dunedin games – against the Central Pulse on Monday, April 5, and the defending champion Melbourne Vixens on Sunday, May 30. The two Invercargill games included in the package are the first and last home games of the season – against the West Coast Fever on Sunday, March 21, and the Canterbury Tactix on Monday, June 7.

“Those Invercargill games were selected because they both fall on what is traditionally a day off for the majority to people, making it easier to travel south to enjoy the action,” Luke said.

Steel membership has increased in recent years, a trend Luke was confident would continue.

“Our loyal members have earned our home venues reputations as cauldrons where opposition teams fear to tread – and that’s fantastic,” Luke said.

“To reward that unequivocal support, we've put together some really exciting packages for our members.”

Gold membership costs $100 and also earns a 10 percent discount off Steel merchandise, entry into the draw to conduct the official coin toss with the two captains on game day and a variety of other invitation-only events and prize draws throughout the season.

Other Steel membership options available include the ultimate Platinum membership featuring all seven home games.

“The Steel did us all proud making the semi-finals in the world’s toughest netball competition earlier last year and we can’t wait to see what can be achieved in 2010 – have you got your seat?” Luke said.
