Georgina Salter has named a squad of sixteen players to train for the Lois Muir Challenge. Eleven players will be selected from the squad to compete in the competition which commences on March 20th in Auckland. The extended squad gives an opportunity for competition within the squad as well as develops players for the busy representative season ahead for Otago.
Of note is the inclusion of two home grown players Tessa Bekkers and Hannah Williams along with three new talented players who have moved to Dunedin to study - Te Paea Selby-Rickit (Western), Mianna Walden (Western) and Gina Crampton (Wellington). The team will be anchored by three New Zealand U21 squad members - Shannon Francois, Jess Moulds and Emily Close.
The competition is moving into its third year and Netball Otago along with the nine other competing regions see it as an important part of the representative season and Netball pathway for players, coaches and umpires. Otago won the inaugural Lois Muir Challenge in 2008 and came 5th in 2009.
